Rules

  • Everyone must follow the market rules. Breaking them leads to a warning, then removal of your shop, then a ban.
  • Market shops must not be left unattended for more than 31 days. If you don’t join the server for 31 days in a row, an Admin will remove your shop ownership.
  • The server economy runs only on diamonds. Every chest shop must trade items or blocks for diamonds.
  • Selling in-game items for real-life money leads to a server ban. To protect everyone from fraud, trading for outside currencies, items from outside the server or any off-platform benefits is also not allowed.
  • All gear, enchanted or not, must sell for at least the cost of its raw materials. For example, an enchanted diamond chestplate must sell for at least eight diamonds. See also the restricted items list.
  • Each player can own one shop. You can also be a member of three other players’ shops, so you can be part of four shops in total. Using alt accounts to buy more shops is not allowed.
  • Before selling items or blocks in your market stall, check the minimum diamond prices for restricted items.
  • Shop hogging, monopolising shop spaces and using shops as storage instead of for selling are not allowed.
  • Each shop has a hard cap of 50 entities. This mostly means item frames, as mob spawning is turned off in the Market. Signs, chests, barrels, armour stands and other tile entities don’t count, so you can use as many as you like.
  • The Newspaper (/news) is only for advertising items sold in your own Market shop. It can’t be used for any of these.
    • Advertising clans.
    • Promoting products sold in other worlds or anywhere outside your Market shop.
    • Renamed items with instructions or directions for buying items that aren’t sold in your Market shop.

Newspaper

The Newspaper is a menu inspired by the game Hay Day that lets you list up to 5 items from your chest shops for sale. Type /news to open it and see items and blocks that players across the Realm are selling in their shops. It refreshes regularly, so there are always fresh listings.

To list your items in the Newspaper, follow these steps.

  1. Look at your chest shop sign and type /ts sponsor.
  2. Your item joins a queue and appears at the Newspaper’s next refresh.

Type /news to view the Newspaper.

Important. Using alt accounts or any other way to get more than 5 listings per account is not allowed.

How to Buy a Shop at /market

  1. Go to /market.
  2. Deposit enough diamonds for the stall you want at the deposit signs behind you. Prices depend on the stall and the Realm.
    • Red and Blue Realms. Most stalls cost 45 or 60 diamonds.
    • Green Realm. Most stalls cost 180 or 240 diamonds.
    • A few special stalls cost more. The price is always shown on the stall’s sign.
  3. Use /shopfinder to see which shops are free, and pick one to teleport to.
  4. Check your diamond bank balance with /bal. If it’s less than the stall’s price, go back to step 2. Otherwise, right-click the shop sign on the outside of the stall to buy it.

Chest shop tutorial

  1. Place a barrel in your shop (if you haven’t already).
  2. While crouching, place a sign down.
  3. Write [Trade] on the first line.
  4. Hold the item or block you want to sell and type /ts addproduct amount.
  5. Hold diamonds (or, if you’re selling diamonds, the item or block you want in return) and type /ts addcost price.
  6. Put the items or blocks you’re selling into the chest shop. If everything worked, the sign changes to ‘Open’ by itself. If the shop shows as closed, try these.
    • Check that the right items are stocked.
    • Type /ts open while looking at the sign.

Tip. If your chest shop shows [Trade] in red text on the first line, place the chest one block behind.

You can also write [bitrade] instead, so the same shop both buys and sells. For example, if you set the product to 32 gold and the cost to 1 diamond, a player can do either of these.

  • Left-click to sell gold for the diamond.
  • Right-click to buy the gold with a diamond.

Custom heads

Decorate your shop with custom heads. Type /heads to browse them and buy them with diamonds. To find a specific head, type /heads search [category].

Storefront design

With any paid rank, you can put custom heads on your shop front. Type /shopfront and buy the wallpaper colour you want with diamonds, then type it again to apply the wallpaper to your shop.

How to become a successful seller in the market

The Market runs entirely on player-to-player trading, so a good shop keeps earning diamonds while you’re offline. Making your first profit can take a little time, but these tips will help you sell more and build a good name as a seller.

Pick a theme

Shops with a clear theme are easier for players to remember and come back to. Here are some ideas.

  • Supplier shop. Sells drops you collect from hostile and passive mob farms.
  • Commons shop. Sells sand, dirt, grass blocks, stone, cobblestone, terracotta, wool and other everyday building blocks.
  • Enchanter’s shop. Sells enchanted books, enchanted gear and other rare items.
  • Crop shop. Sells wheat, carrots, pumpkins, potatoes, sweet berries, beetroots, bamboo, sugar cane and mushrooms.
  • Nether shop. Sells items and blocks found only in the Nether, such as wither skulls and piglin trade goods.
  • End shop. Sells items and blocks found only in the End, such as purpur blocks, elytras, dragon heads and shulkers.
  • Florist. Sells flower pots and different kinds of flowers.
  • Banner shop. Sells ready-made and custom-designed banners, in single, double and triple variations.
  • Commercial supplies shop. Sells drops from guardian, blaze, wither skeleton, drowned and pillager farms.
  • Zoo shop. Sells mob spawn eggs and pet food.
  • Music shop. Sells music discs, jukeboxes and note blocks.
  • Redstone shop. Sells redstone items.
  • Precious ore shop. Sells gold, emeralds, coal and lapis.
  • Crafted items shop. Sells items that need crafting or smelting, such as lanterns, glazed terracotta, bricks and kelp blocks.
  • Witchcraft shop. Sells all sorts of potions and brewing ingredients.

Choose what to sell

Items players need in bulk for building and progressing sell the fastest. These are some of the most popular right now.

  • Wool
  • Sand
  • Stone
  • Bricks
  • Quartz blocks of all kinds
  • Elytras
  • Enchanted books
  • Netherite items

Before you set a price, check the restricted items list for minimum prices, and look at what similar shops charge. Fair prices and handy amounts, like full stacks of building blocks, keep buyers coming back.

Set up your stall

  • Show what you sell. Put each item in an item frame above its chest shop so players can see everything at a glance. Item frames count towards the 50-entity limit, so use signs for labels.
  • Decorate it. Buy custom heads with /heads, and with any paid rank you can add a wallpaper to your shop front with /shopfront. See Custom heads.
  • Keep it stocked. Buyers who find empty shops rarely come back. Type /ts status to check the stock levels of your chest shops.

Offer services

You can also earn diamonds by offering services, such as helping with large builds, building farms or fixing redstone contraptions. Put a sign in your shop with your username so players know who to contact. They can send you a message with /mail.

The more players who know about your shop, the more diamonds you’ll make.

  • The Newspaper. List up to 5 items in /news by looking at a chest shop sign and typing /ts sponsor. See Newspaper.
  • Market chat. Join the in-game market chat with /channel market. Type /g to go back to global chat.
  • Discord. Post in the #market-chat channel on the CatCraft Discord server.

Pick a good location

If you’re buying your first stall or moving to a new one, try to pick one close to the centre of the market. Shops near the centre get more visitors and more sales.

FAQ

Buying a stall

How do I buy a market stall?

Go to /market and deposit diamonds into your diamond bank at the deposit signs. Use /shopfinder to find a free stall, check your balance with /bal, then right-click the shop sign on the outside of the stall. The full steps are in How to Buy a Shop at /market above.

How much does a stall cost?

It depends on the stall and the Realm. On the Red and Blue Realms most stalls cost 45 or 60 diamonds, and on the Green Realm most cost 180 or 240 diamonds. A few special stalls cost more, and the price is always shown on the stall’s sign.

How many shops can I have?

You can own one shop. You can also be a member of up to three other players’ shops, so you can be part of four shops in total. Using alt accounts to buy more shops is not allowed.

If I sell my stall back, do I get my diamonds back?

No. The diamonds you pay for a stall are not refunded, even if you sell it back with /arm sellback. The idea is to pay off your stall by selling items and blocks, so a stall works best as a long-term investment.

Running your shop

How do I teleport to another player’s shop?

Use /arm tp [shopID]. For example, to visit the shop a1u1, type /arm tp a1u1.

Can I sell crate reward items, like CatGod tools, gear and weapons?

Yes. Crate keys and spawners are the items that can’t be sold (see the banned items list above).

How do I get my items into the Newspaper?

Look at your chest shop sign and type /ts sponsor. Your item joins a queue and shows up in /news at the next refresh. Each account can have up to 5 listings at a time, and the Newspaper is only for items sold in your own Market shop.

Is there a limit on decorations in my shop?

Each shop can have up to 50 entities, which mostly means item frames. Signs, chests, barrels, armour stands and other tile entities don’t count, so you can use as many of those as you like.

Where can I advertise my shop?

Post in the #market-chat channel on the CatCraft Discord server, or join the in-game market chat with /channel market (type /g to go back to global chat). You can also list items in the Newspaper with /ts sponsor.

When will my shop be removed?

If you don’t join the server for 31 days in a row, an Admin will reset your shop. You’ll get an in-game mail from staff three days before it’s removed, which you can read with /mail read. If you know you can’t join within 31 days, open a ticket on the Discord server (see Support) and let staff know.

The diamond economy

What currency does CatCraft use?

Diamonds. Every chest shop trades items for diamonds, and you keep your diamonds in a diamond bank.

  • Deposit diamonds at the deposit signs at /market.
  • Check your balance with /bal (or /balance).
  • Send diamonds to another player with /pay [player] [amount].
  • Add diamonds from your bank to a secure /trade (see Quality of Life Features).

You can find more commands on the Commands page. Voting and the Piñata can also reward diamonds.

Why do some items have a minimum price?

Gear has to sell for at least the cost of its raw materials, and the items in the restricted items list have set minimum prices. This protects sellers who worked hard to get those items from being undercut below what they cost to make, and it keeps the value of valuable items steady for everyone. You can always charge more than the minimum.

What does inflation mean on CatCraft?

Inflation means each diamond buys a little less than it used to. Players have been collecting diamonds for years and progress is never reset, so there are more diamonds around than ever. Items that are always plentiful stay cheap, but items in limited supply, like crate rarities, slowly go up in price.

How does that compare to real life?

In the real world, inflation can happen when a country prints too much money without the goods and services to back it up, and in extreme cases like Zimbabwe it can cripple an economy. CatCraft’s economy is self-contained and run by players. There’s no international trade, no tax, no debt and no outside economic forces, so price rises only show up in luxury items like crate rarities and other collectibles. Everyday gameplay items aren’t affected.

Is inflation a problem in the Green Realm economy?

No. Rarity prices have gone up, but that mainly matters to collectors and players chasing specific rare items or ultra-legendaries from crates. For the average player, and especially new players, everyday gameplay is unaffected.

Tools from crates released years ago still have the same strong enchantments (Efficiency 6, Unbreaking 5, Mending), so good gear for gathering resources is easy to get. Owning pickaxes from several crates gives no real advantage, because you can only use one at a time, so nobody needs to stockpile tools to keep up.

I’m a new player. Do veterans with lots of diamonds put me at a disadvantage?

No. Veterans’ diamond savings don’t change how easy it is to get core resources. Most large diamond trades are for rare and collectible items, which are luxuries rather than something you need to progress.

Essentials like high-level enchanted books, fireworks, blocks and food are widely available at cheap prices, thanks to the large automated farms players have built over the years. New players can jump right in with the same access to resources as everyone else.

Why do crate rarities cost more than they used to?

There are more diamonds in the player base than ever, for a few reasons.

  • Player progress is never reset, so diamonds keep building up.
  • The Caves & Cliffs update (1.18) made diamonds much easier to find.
  • About the same number of crate keys are bought each year, while many players now have large diamond savings.

More diamonds chasing a similar number of rarities means more competition, so prices rise. This only affects luxury items. Basic resources that everyone needs to progress stay just as affordable. The community-run price tracker in Extras shows how Green Realm rarity prices change over time.

What could help balance the cost of rarities?

Two ideas often come up.

  1. More players opening crates. More crate openings means more rarities in the market, which would naturally bring prices down by balancing supply and demand.
  2. Buying crate keys with diamonds from the server. This sounds appealing, but it needs careful thought.
    • Too many rarities in the market would make them feel less special and lower their value in both the diamond economy and the player market.
    • Crate purchases fund the server’s growth, including new updates, development and features, so fewer purchases would slow that down.
    • Players with large diamond savings would gain an advantage, making it harder for newer players to compete.

The priority is keeping gameplay balanced, fair and fun for every player, so these factors are always weighed carefully before any change.

Rules and problems

What happens if I break the market rules?

Breaking the market rules leads to a warning first, then removal of your shop, and then a ban. The full list is in Rules at the top of this page.

Can I sell items for real money or trade for things outside the server?

No. Selling in-game items for real-life money leads to a ban. Trading for outside currencies, items from outside the server or any off-platform benefits isn’t allowed either, which keeps everyone safe from scams.

Can I use my shop as storage?

No. Shops are for selling. Using a shop as storage, holding onto shops you don’t use, or taking up lots of shop spaces isn’t allowed, so stalls stay available for active sellers.

I’m still having trouble with my shop. Who can help?

Type /helpop [message] to reach online staff, and someone will help you shortly. If no staff are online, open a support ticket on the Discord server. The Support page explains how.
